Track Transactions

FI Tracker gives you two complementary ways to keep your portfolio log spotless: a conversational assistant for rapid entry, and a structured form when you want total control.

Natural-Language Assistant

Chat with Copilot to record trades, transfers, or conversions in plain English:

  • “I bought 0.5 BTC at $50,000”
  • “Sell 100 shares of TSLA at $250 in my Fidelity account”
  • “Transfer $2,500 from Schwab to Chase”

How it Works

  1. Describe the move – Copilot detects the action, asset, amount, price, and account.
  2. Fill any gaps – If a detail is missing, the assistant asks follow-up questions (e.g., “Which account should I use?”).
  3. Confirm – You get a clean summary to approve before anything is posted.
  4. Record – The portfolio updates instantly, including realized gains/losses for sells.

Supported Actions

  • Buy – Adds shares/coins using the specified price and account.
  • Sell – Logs proceeds and highlights realized gain/loss.
  • Transfer – Moves cash or assets between institutions.
  • Convert – Swaps one asset for another (e.g., ETH → BTC).

Helpful Features

  • Quick examples – One-click prompts for common scenarios.
  • Account suggestions – Picks an account with funds if you don’t specify one.
  • Rollback – If you spot a mistake, ask Copilot to undo the most recent entry.

Manual Form

Prefer a point-and-click flow? Use the Transactions form:

  1. Choose Buy, Sell, Transfer, or Convert.
  2. Enter the symbol, amounts, price, and institutions.
  3. Add optional notes (e.g., “DCA purchase”, “Tax-loss harvest”).
  4. Submit to record the transaction.

Best Practices

  • Log activity right after it happens so your dashboard and milestones stay accurate.
  • Include context in the notes field to make future reviews easier.
  • Use the assistant for quick updates, then switch to the form when you need granular control.
  • Review the transaction history or performance insights pages to see the impact of each move.
